QID 210620 (Type "210620" in App Search)
A 44-year-old woman presents to the emergency department after a motor vehicle accident. The patient was rear-ended at low speeds and was wearing a seatbelt. She complains of neck stiffness and some abdominal pain in the left lower quadrant where her seatbelt was but states she otherwise feels well. Her temperature is 98.8°F (37.1°C), blood pressure is 117/68 mmHg, pulse is 72/min, respirations are 13/min, and oxygen saturation is 99% on room air. A full trauma assessment is completed and is negative for any obvious injuries. A FAST exam is negative for free fluid and reveals asymptomatic gallstones in the gallbladder. A CT scan is ordered as seen in Figure A for the patient's left lower quadrant abdominal pain. The patient is started on IV fluids and is reassured that no significant traumatic injury has occurred. Her vitals are within normal limits. 3 hours later, she states she feels well except for some neck stiffness. Right upper quadrant tenderness is absent and Murphy sign is negative. Which of the following is the most appropriate next step in management?
