A 16-year-old female presents to her primary care provider for fatigue. She reports feeling well until 2 weeks ago when she became unusually tired and developed a sore throat. Her mother took her temperature at home and reports that it was as high as 101.8°F (38.8°C). The patient reports that her sore throat has started to improve in the last few days but her mother continues to be concerned that her daughter is missing school.
