The patient is at low risk of tuberculosis (TB) and thus a positive tuberculin test would be an induration greater than or equal to 15mm in diameter read at 48-72 hours. Reaction size for the tuberculin test is determined 48-72 hours and can remain positive for up to a week. Negative readings after 72 hours are unreliable. A positive test result is greater than or equal to 15mm induration for persons with no risk factors; greater than or equal to 10mm induration for persons with diabetes, malignancy, silicosis, immigrants from high prevalence countries who arrived within five years, and persons who use illicit drugs; greater than or equal to 5mm induration for patients with HIV, fibrotic changes from previous TB, and recent contact with persons with active TB. Incorrect Answers: Answer 1-2: This is not a long enough waiting period to read a tuberculin test. Answer 3: This is the correct time to read the test. However, 11mm is not a large enough induration for a patients at low risk of latent TB to be considered positive Answer 5: 96 hours is too long to accurately read the tuberculin test. A repeat test will need to be performed to rule out TB
